“Homecoming was hilarious, heartbreaking, and heartwarming all in one!”

Dara is a storyteller, comedian, and writer.
She recently debuted her solo storytelling show "Homecoming" to multiple sold-out audiences at NYC's Under St. Mark and LA's Lyric Hyperion. She's a Moth StorySlam winner and has performed at San Francisco’s Punch Line Comedy Club and Brooklyn’s Union Hall. As part of the Reimagine End of Life arts festival in SF and NYC, she’s produced and performed in comedy shows about grief and loss that demonstrate the healing power of humor. Dara placed 3rd out of 150 comics in the 2023 Rooster T. Feather’s New Talent Comedy Competition, beating out people who are now much more famous than her - so needless to say, she has potential!
Dara grew up in Cambridge, Ma., near “Havad Yad”, lived in SF for 20 years, and moved to LA a few years ago to pursue her dreams. Despite having lived in California for so long that she now uses Animal Spirit cards to make major life decisions, she still feels tied to her East Coast roots.
Homecoming
A darkly funny tale about losing my mom and finding myself… again.
Dara is on the adventure of her life studying art in Australia when she gets that call-- her mom is dying, and she has to come home. Suddenly, their already difficult mother/daughter relationship becomes a lot more complicated. How do you make amends with a dead mom?
What follows is a winding journey through the awkward, painful, unexpectedly hilarious process of finding yourself again after loss.
“Homecoming” is a darkly funny solo show about complicated grief, identity, and how losing your mom can really mess with your study abroad year (and the next 20 years after that).
So please: laugh, cry, or just sit there silently questioning your own life choices.
The show was originally directed by Iris Bahr for the 2025 Neurotica Comedy Festival at Under St. Marks and was most recently directed by David Crabb for the LA performances at the Lyric Hyperion this fall.
Fresh off its NYC and LA debuts, this is what audience members are saying...
"Dara delivers an absolutely captivating performance in this beautifully written, deeply personal show. The exploration of grief, memory, and the complexities of the mother-daughter relationship is both intimate and universally relatable. Every word felt intentional — I was hanging on to each one. The hour flew by; I could have easily watched another. It’s rare to see something that feels so raw yet so carefully crafted. A moving and memorable experience."
"Beautiful, touching show. I laughed. I cried. I thought deeply. The show masterfully touched on heavy topics, striking just the right tone. I highly recommend the show to all."
"Everything about the show felt straight from the heart. I left feeling special for having received her story and having lived it with her. "
“Dara is infinitely watchable, warm and compelling.”
“Spellbinding and funny at the same time.”
“The one-woman show “Homecoming” by Dara Kosberg was a deeply moving and thought-provoking evening that skillfully explored the intersections of life, loss, and love… It was a captivating portrait of the human experience in its purest form.”
